Physiotherapy Shadowing Programme

Date: 24/02/2025

The Medical Club organized a Physiotherapy Shadowing Programme. Our students had the opportunity to gain valuable firsthand exposure to the field of physiotherapy. Through this experience, she observed various treatment techniques, patient assessments, and rehabilitation processes in a clinical setting.

One of the key takeaways was the use of acupuncture as a therapeutic method, offering insights into how traditional techniques are integrated into modern physiotherapy practices. Students also learned about the functions and applications of various clinical devices, including Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), Ultrasound Therapy, and Shock Wave Therapy, which are commonly used for pain relief and muscle rehabilitation.

Additionally, students had the opportunity to observe the physiotherapist's clinical reasoning process, particularly how individualized rehabilitation exercises were prescribed to aid recovery. This included analyzing patient information, identifying muscle dysfunction or tissue-related issues, and assessing muscle strength and pain patterns to develop tailored treatment plans.

This shadowing experience provided students with an invaluable opportunity to understand the critical role of physiotherapists in diagnosing conditions, implementing evidence-based treatments, and supporting patients throughout their recovery journey.
